I, for one, am thrilled that we get the chance to hear Michael Pollan speak this week, in case you couldn't tell by my cheering every time his name has been mentioned in seminar. For those of you who don't yet know how eloquent and investigatory the keynote speaker of the upcoming faculty book celebration is, or for those of you who do know, but would appreciate a refresher - here is a talk he gave at the 2007 TED conference.
Also, if you don't know about TED, now is a great time to learn! The name of the conference stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and it is a yearly gathering of forerunners in those fields who give 20 minute presentations on some pretty fascinating advancements and developments ranging from humor and storytelling, to psychology and particle physics. The talk that Al Gore gave for TED2006 actually served as the basis for An Inconvenient Truth. So, I highly suggest you all head over to the talks portion of their website and learn some amazing new things.
